The huge bail outs and recession in the American economy has had its impact in India, not only on business but also on marriage preferences! Men are now on the look-out for a working woman who will add to their income. They no longer want the ideal daughter-in-law for their parents. Women too are convinced that the traditional engineering jobs are more stable than the once preferred IT professionals. NRI grooms working in the IT sector look gloomy because in contrast to the flood of offers that came their way, there is a 25% decrease in the response that they used to receive on the matrimonial websites.

Losing Flavour

Those in the investment banking profession are also the last to be considered. However, men who are employed in the IT sector in India are sought out much more than ever. The teaching profession has received an elevated status because of its stability. Matrimonial sites are facing a financial crunch since many have decided to put off looking for the right partner till the world turns around. Woes everywhere!
