Most kids today are couch potatoes since there are so many channels and also because adults too love to watch television. This addiction leads to stress and of course obesity because physical activity gets cut down totally. Counsellors advise that the best way to wean kids from watching television is to remove the comfortable sofa or chair next to the television. The ideal amount of time spent watching television would be an hour on school days and definitely not the full day on weekends. An extra half an hour will do.
Separate TVBy getting the child a separate television, you will only be encouraging her to watch more of television. The child will cut down on sleep to view programmes that may not be meant for her. Get children involved in more activities like dance and drama so that they are physically too tired and mentally far too involved in other activities to let the idiot box excite them.
