Even before the Olympics begin, an Indian woman is in the news for being another Olympic torch bearer. Meena Barot got the honours by virtue of an online contest that was held last year. Meena has been in China since 2005 and is working for a pharmaceutical company. Meena says that she decided to take part in the competition because she felt it would be great for an Indian to be part of the event.

Great Win

Meena secured around 9,000 votes and was elected from around 262 candidates. Meena says that the event was awesome because the roads were lined with people who wanted to witness the spectacular five-km-long stretch. These people had gathered on the roads from the previous night! The event has brought together people from the world over, making it what the world should actually be Earth, with no borders.
