It's Michael Phelps all the way at the Olympics! He has broken Mark Spitz's record for winning the most number of gold medals at the Olympics. Having won 8 medals at the Beijing Olympics, his total count now comes to 14 golds and 2 bronze. This makes him the most successful athlete ever! His feat has surpassed those of Larisa Latynina, the Soviet gymnast who won 9 gold medals and four bronze; he has also exceeded the performance of Paavao Nurmi, the Finnish athlete who won nine gold and three silver; Phelps has also outperformed Spitz who won 9 gold, one silver and one bronze; finally, he has also beaten Carl Lewis who won 9 gold and one silver. Michael has also beat his own world record of 2004 by 1.34 seconds, thereby taking the US team to their gold in the Water Cube event! The sportsperson broke down when he was awarded a certificate for his outstanding performance. The superman of the show at last gave in to his human side! The world salutes you, Michael Phelps!
