We are the World...

Old Mothers

Women and Anger

Music and Cholesterol
Parents are desperate about getting children to read and are willing to invest a great deal of money on books but come away defeated. What does one do? As soon as your baby is old enough to pick up a book, let her go through the book, looking at pictures and trying to communicate to you what she thinks it is about. Sound excited and keep showing her the book every day. If a child insists on looking at only one particular book, even as she learns to read and lets you read out to her, don't say with exasperation, "That is the hundredth time I've read that book!" The child loves it for whatever reasoncould be the story, the pictures or even the way some words are read out.
Loud Reading
Get hubby also to read out loud to your child. That way, the child understands that everyone loves to read and everyone needs to read. Make reading a fun time and a time for relaxation. You will find that very soon your child will be fascinated by books!
