India is ecstatic with the one gold and two bronze medals that she has won. Vijendra Kumar has won the bronze medal in the boxing event, the first ever for India. The honour of being the flag bearer at the closing ceremony was given to him. The Indian industry has offered a lot of prizes and discounts for the winner since each industry wants its share of publicity. Sushil Kumar too has won the bronze in freestyle wrestling. The world feels that India has something to look forward to at the London Olympics four years from now. But the world also knows about the Indian attitude by now. While the rest of the athletes may take off for a week and then start preparing again, the Indian sports committee will celebrate with the media and the politicians and wake up from its slumber just a little before the flight to London. The lessons learned from the Beijing Olympics are that individuals in India have the grit and the capability and they can change the destiny of a nation, if they choose to.
