Wedding or marriage is one of the celebrated occasions in the journey of life. Two mature individuals mutually agree upon spending their lives and sharing their joys and sorrows together. Wedding Vows constitute of an important part of any marriage ceremony. The sanctity of marriage is reflected aptly through wedding vows. It refers to the promises made to each other during a wedding ceremony.

This custom of taking a solemn pledge came from the Christian tradition of wedding. Christian Wedding Vows or the Christian marriage vows reflect the five key facets of a successful and blissful marriage – love, relationship, partnership, responsibility and life. In case of a few civil marriage ceremonies, couples can choose their own vows. Christian Wedding Vows can also be written declarations, as per the discretion of the couple. Poetry, song lyric or vows taken from other religions are commonly in use. The fundamental pattern of a traditional Christian wedding vow ceremony begins with the officiant, normally a minister or church official, saying words such as these:

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here in the sight of God, and in the presence of this company, to unite (Groom's name) and (Bride's name) in holy matrimony. Marriage was ordained by God in Eden and confirmed in Cana of Galilee by the presence of the Lord, and is declared by the Apostle Paul to be honorable among all men. On this occasion we begin by asking God's blessing on this marriage service. Let us pray."
