In a Christian wedding the father makes the bride and the groom take their promises and he makes them realize that they will stay and protect each other in every situation and that they accept each other as man and wife to each other. In Christian wedding the bride and the groom are made to agree to certain promises and at the end of each promise they say 'I Do'.

Among the Muslims the wedding ceremony is known as the Nikah. The bride and the groom after they are made aware of the promises and wedding vows by the maulvi have to say 'Kabul Hai' which indicates that they accept each other as husband and wife.
