The movie was also known as American Pie - The Wedding outside the US or American Pie 3. This Hollywood movie was a sequel to the comedy movies American Pie released in 1999 and American Pie 2 released in 2001. American Wedding was the third movie of the American Pie Presents series.

The movie was directed by Jesse Dylan and written by Adam Herz. This movie also has the same characters from the first two movies. In the movie American Wedding, the friends get together again to celebrate the wedding of Jim played by Jason Biggs and Michelle played by Alyson Hannigan.

This movie was released on August 1, 2003 in the United States. It had a budget of 55 million dollars and financially it was a huge success with collecting 123 million dollars overseas and 104 million dollars in the US. But the movie didn't have many of the supporting characters from the first two movies. These included Heather (Mena Suvari), Jessica (Natasha Lyonne), Sherman (Chris Owen), Oz (Chris Klein), Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth) and Vicky (Tara Reid).

The movie American Wedding starts with a dinner for celebration of college graduation by Jim Levenstein and Michelle. Here Jim proposes to marry Michelle. The wedding dress of Michelle was made by only one designer and he goes to find him. Jim is worried as he can't dance and his only help is Stifler who had taken dance lessons. But cunning Stifler gives a condition for dance teaching provided he is allowed to come to Jim's wedding.

At first Jim and Michelle had planned not to tell Stifler about their marriage. But Stifler finds out about their wedding when he accidentally comes in their engagement party. He plans to have a bachelor party too. In the wedding Finch as well as Stifler gets attracted to Michelle's sister Cadence. When Stifler hears that Cadence wants to attract a decent guy, he behaves meekly and acts like Finch.

Later in American Wedding, Finch realizes that Cadence is getting tired of the intellectual Stifler. Therefore Finch starts acting rudely like Stifler. It becomes difficult for Cadence to choose one of them as both were acting like each other. At the end Stifler destroys the flowers on the night before the wedding. He feels bad and brings his football team to decorate the entire church with fresh flowers. With this Cadence chooses Stifler. Finch admits to Cadence that Stifler was better for her. Stifler becomes angry as he can't hate Finch for this noble remark. In the end the marriage between Jim and Michelle goes on.
