He aspires to become a wrestler and joins a wrestling school run by Om Prakash. According to the rules of this school, Anil Kapoor cannot fall in love or marry till the age of 40.

Chameli ki Shaadi revolves around the love story of Charan Das (Anil Kapoor) and Chameli (Amrita Singh). Charan Das falls in love with Chameli which is against the laws of his wrestling school and master Om Prakash. Charan Das runs away from the wrestling school and takes refuge in Harishs' (Amjad Khan) house who is a lawyer by profession. Harish helps Charan Das to find his love. Harish sends a love letter to Chameli on Charan's behalf. Chameli falls in love with Charan as soon as she receives the love letter.

When Chameli's parents get the information about her daughter's love story they become furious. Charan Das is from a different caste so Chameli's parents are against the marriage completely. They even call Chameli's drunkard brother to throw Charan Das out of Chameli's life. Harish suggests Charan to rescue Chameli from her parents' place. Charan Das elopes with Chameli and takes refuge in Harish's house where their marriage is planned. On the marriage day both the families protest against the marriage. But the marriage happens.

Chameli ki Shaadi is a unique movie involving all the beautiful aspects of life and society. Small town culture, innocence of love are beautifully portrayed in the movie. No doubt that Chameli ki Shaadi is one of the best Bollywood Wedding movies.
