WorkaholicHey guy! Hold on a sec. Before you start pleading innocence, give it a bit of thought. And admit honestly to yourself if you belong to the workaholic gang. And that sure ain't a healthy place to be in.

  • Given a choice, would you rather spend time with your family, or catch up on your workload?

  • Do you take home some work? Do you sit apart from your family and go through your letters, files and phone calls?

  • Do you sit up late while your wife is in bed?

  • It's your day off! Of course you're going to spend time with your family    once you get your office work done for the day. Right?

  • What does your conversation focus on when you are with family and friends? Is it your job, the various opportunities and prospects involved?

  • Are there frequent family fights about your absence or lack of attention?

  • Has your family stopped expecting you to spend time with them at all?

  • Does your life centre around your job, or do you have a few hobbies and a large social circle?

How have you scored in your answers? If your work takes precedence in more than three questions, you are well on your way to becoming a workaholic.

The question then    is this all you want from life? A never-ending workload? Endless mountains to climb? With no time to enjoy the view?

That kind of attitude just isn't healthy. It isn't good for your family. It isn't good for your health. And it isn't a good way to live.

We do assume that before you got caught up in your work, you were happy and that you led a perfectly normal life.

You need to realise that you have a problem. You need to spend time with your family and friends.

You must acknowledge that life is more fun when it is well balanced.
