1. Secrets form an important part of growing up. If a friend reveals an information to you to gain your confidence, keep it to yourself lest you hurt her and jeopardise the relationship.
2. However busy you might be, always find time to keep in touch with your friend. Send a quick e-mail, if she is miles away. Or chat her up on the phone during lunch break or teatime.
3. Make it a point to meet up once in a while. Share joys and sorrows, jokes and frivolities, about home and work, husband and children. Pull each others legs. Let off steam. And come back a refreshed and rejuvenated person.
4. Don`t forget to remember those special days in your friend`s life, such as birthdays and wedding anniversaries. It feels good when people remember our special moments and share our happiness.
5. As far as possible, try to be available in your friend`s hour of trial even if it means making small sacrifices on your part. After all, if your friend can`t rely on you during those trying moments in her life, then who else can she depend upon?
