Learning is a joyful activity, which begins at home. Courage and the strength to face difficult situations find their origins here .You can motivate the child and positively reinforce her. It is up to you to initiate your child to study.
Here are a few tips.
You can help your child to prepare for the exams one or two months before the half-yearly or annual exams start. Even if you can't teach her, be around to encourage her.
Don't expect too much from your child. High expectations can also mar a child's achievement. Due to anxiety, she may not do too well.
You may be anxious about her performance, but don't convey anything to her. Since the child is already burdened with facts and figures, she may get tensed.
Avoid nagging or coaxing your child to study.
Help her to plan her work and work her plan constructively.
Give some time for a small walk in the garden or to play with her friends.
If your child has a headache or has what is called as pre-exam fever, do pamper her by taking the food or tea etc., to the bedroom. Be watchful so that this does not become a pretext for not writing the exam or doing it badly.
Do keep the fridge stuffed with foods. Mental fatigue may make her very hungry.
Make sure your child does not have any worries. Keep an eye on her health.
Ensure that your child sleeps well, it is necessary to refresh her memory.
Don't be an autocrat. Give your child freedom to move about. Exams should not make the child a bookworm. Exams should help her to assimilate and compartmentalize her activities.
Parents in their excitement to make their children excel, may overemphasize the importance of exams. You can help your child to take exams in her stride, and face it with positivism.
