Relationship Resolutions for Diwali

  • Be it your parent, sibling, child, friend, colleague or a ghost from the past - reach out and make up.

  • No matter how trivial the relationship seems to you now, go ahead and mend your fences. Many valuable friendships have been formed after the cold has thawed.

  • All you need is to smile and say hello. Now, that doesn`t seem too difficult does it? Just make sure you meet their eyes and that your smile is genuine. The rest will follow easier than you think.

  • Many relationships go asunder only because each party is waiting for the other to make the first move.

  • Forgive if you can`t forget - if you do have a genuine grouse. Whether we like it or not, we need to accept the world the way it is and not the way we think it should be.

  • Have it in your heart to say, "She did it, but it`s okay now".

  • Talk things over if you can. If not, let it be for now. There`s plenty of time for it in the future.

  • If it is someone you`re dying to make up with and you don`t know how to, just throw a Diwali party and invite her to it. Greet her warmly when she comes. The presence of other guests will help carry on conversations while the fences get automatically mended.

  • You might be reluctant to reach out, but you will be glad that you did. Your heart will be infinitely lighter and you`ll stand tall in your own eyes.

  • Do it because you deserve happiness. Pride is cold comfort indeed.
