BREAK OUT OF A CAREER RUT
It is easy for working moms to get grid-locked in their careers. Many working mothers are 'career martyrs'. They aren't particularly fulfilled at their job, but they stick with it because it's not too demanding, or because it allows them time to deal with family needs, or because they're afraid that making a change will require too much of their time and energy. These women carry the responsibility for everybody on their shoulders - and give their own needs the least importance.
If a woman consciously decides to make certain sacrifices, that's one thing. But many women feel their children come first and so are reluctant to focus on themselves. They never explore how to balance their own needs with their family's needs and end up stuck in jobs that leave them unfulfilled and unhappy.
How do you get out of this type of grid-lock? The first step is to change the way you think: Instead of saying, "I can't do this because…" you need to say, "This is how I can make this work". Then you need to pursue your goals. Take that night class. Go for that promotion. Instead of being anxious about what will happen, sometimes you need to just make a change and see how things turn out.
