Okay. So you are not one of those ‘fitness rats’ and nor are you a gym buff and you are not an exercise freak either! You must be thinking of all that you could have done to get your body ready for pregnancy but have missed out through sheer laziness or lack of time. Anyway, as long as you are aware of your shortcomings, you can still make up for lost time even after your pregnancy has been confirmed. Just so long as you know that whatever you do these 9 months is going to affect your baby too!
It is important to remain active and fit during your pregnancy and of course you can exercise too – but all within moderation. Your gynae can be your guide – get all the information from her about those critical 9 months so that you can be prepared for any eventuality. The first thing you would be advised to do, especially if you have never exercised in your life is to join a fitness class for pregnant women – pronto!

These classes will ensure safety during your exercise sessions as you will be guided at every step by trained professionals who will be able to gauge your condition and determine the amount of exercise you will be able to tolerate. By joining these classes, you ensure that your muscles get toned and strengthened. You also find yourself in a certain comfort level as you are surrounded by pregnant women in various stages of pregnancy. Soon, you will find yourselves sharing your experiences and trying to find out how certain situations can be best dealt with. Nothing like finding your soul mate in a pregnancy class to make your journey easier!

The trainers in these classes are all highly qualified and fully aware of their responsibility. They will help you to not only make your pregnancy safe but see to it that your body is at its peak fitness level, all geared up for the baby to arrive. These classes will help you to choose your diet and focus on getting your body to the desired fitness levels as well as provide you with a wealth of information about the proper technique to be followed during the actual labour and delivery.

So go ahead! Enrol yourself in that fitness class. Eat nutritious food, exercise regularly and most of all, have a totally positive mental attitude which will make you a complete winner!
Happy pregnancy!
