The invisible child

I have my work cut out as a mother to three growing children with varying whims and demands that need immediate attention. From bruised knees to bruised egos, they expect me to be the 'super fixer' mom. My own career as a teacher is a demanding one and coming home to the demands of my own children hardly allows for anytime of my own.

So, you can imagine my horror when I realised that I also had a fourth child, who without my knowledge had slipped into my house and my life and taken complete control of it. Most of my time was spent looking for this child who was the naughtiest of the brood. His name was "I Dunno."

The minute "I Dunno" entered my life, my sanity was at stake. He was responsible for all the things that went wrong in my house.

When I fell over a ball in the hallway and asked my son as to who had kept it there, he said "I dunno."

When I discovered ketchup stains on my best table cloth and confronted my little daughter about it, she said "I dunno."

When the phone rang and I asked my son " Who is going to pick it up? he said "I dunno."

When the window shattered after a cricket ball had sailed through it, I dunno was responsible.

When I asked my son who had split the bottle of perfume on my bed, pat came the reply, "I dunno."

I am sick to death of this child I Dunno.

Who made my son eat an extra ice-cream and made him sick? I Dunno.

Who left dirty shoes in my kitchen, my daughter answers, I dunno.

Who will help me dry the clothes, my son replies "I Dunno."

Who was responsible for banging the door so hard that the knob fell off? You guessed it I Dunno.

Who was responsible for making the dog sick after feeding him a bottle of jam? You said it I Dunno.

Where is I Dunno? He lives in my house, eats my food, leaves a trail of dirty clothes for me to pick up, makes my children eat extra chocolates, spills milk on the floor, but I never seem to see him or catch him red-handed. What puzzles me the most is that my children get to see him everyday but he magically disappears when I arrive.

Will somebody help me find this invisible child who is haunting my house? Does anyone have any clues on how I can get my hands on this naughty child?
