Bertie Wooster's trusty butler from PG Wodehouse's books? Well, this search engine is supposed to be as trusty.
How to use it
Just type in a question (like, "Why do we sneeze?") and get an answer. Actually, what you get is more questions and you have to pick one, which Jeeves then answers for you.
You also get Websites that are connected to your questions. If you wait too long to ask a question, Jeeves himself asks one question and goes on to answer it! But then you always have a chance to ask what you want. Jeeves also checks the spelling for you.
Is really cool
It's as peppy as it sounds. Yahooligans - the younger brother of Yahoo! which you will no doubt have heard of or used. It's a Web guide for children.
What's so great about Yahooligans? Its total coolness is what kids like about it the most. Search for "sneeze" here and you'll be able to download sound files of people sneezing. And really yucky nose blowing sounds, too! It's got a lot of fun-looking links to follow and although it's all very American, it's still fun for all kids to use. It's a good place to get downloads from - games, funny stuff, etc.
How to use it
There are 2 ways to use Yahooligans. One is by entering a word (called a Keyword) into the search box and then choosing from the results you get.
The second is to click into the different categories and subjects and explore listed sites. The first is good if you need to find something in particular. The second is nice if you're just fooling around, exploring stuff.
When to use it
It's a good place to just go surfing. You'll also find some of the Web's most well known sites through this engine. If only it weren't so American, though!
When you type in a keyword (a word to search) in a search box, don't be surprised if you get thousands of results. It's tough to search through all the junk to get to what you really want. To cut down on the junk, make your word a specific, special word and not a broad, general one that includes everything.
