Items needed:
- a light, plastic grocery bag
- 8 pieces of yarn of the same length
Watch the fun!
Cut a large square piece from the front portion of the plastic grocery bag. Trim off the corners to form an octagon. Punch small holes with a nail, near each angle of this octagon, so that you have eight evenly spaced holes all along this shape. Take one of the eight pieces of yarn and tie one end of it to a hole. Do the same with the other seven pieces of yarn. Now pull the other ends of the 8 pieces of yarn together and tie them in a tight knot. Push the nail through a few of the knotted stands to serve as a weight. And your parachute is ready!
To test it, go outside to an area, which is breezy. Stand on a chair or a high platform. Hold the parachute high above your head with both your hands and release it. It billows out and floats downward gently and away from you.
