As your baby becomes mobile, and starts exploring the world she is bound to have a few falls either while learning to walk or while playing. Generally kids do not get seriously hurt unless the fall is from a height of more than 3-4 feet or they fall on a sharp object or edge. Give some medical attention immediately, especially if your baby has had a big or a serious fall.
Watch out for
- Bleeding from nose or ear after a fall, which may indicate a fracture in the skull.
- Watery running nose suddenly after a fall (indicates fracture in the base of skull)
- Repeated vomiting
- Clumsiness
- Unconsciousness
- Altered behaviour
- Severe headache
- Visual problems
If any of the problems are present, rush to the hospital emergency room without delay.
