Every time your child has a fever or a cold, I am sure that you will hear many dos and don'ts from everyone around you. Though most of this advice might be good, you as a mother should know what is best for your child. Urinary infections

If your child cries out of pain or a burning sensation, every time she passes urine, she might be suffering from a urinary tract infection. Girl babies are more prone to this condition, since their urethras are short making it easier for bacteria to travel into the bladder. A course of antibiotics is what has to be given. And always while cleaning her bottom, wipe from front to back to minimise the risk of infection. Use cotton underwear.

Minor Injuries

Discuss the various kinds of minor injuries with your paediatrician, and find out what can be treated at home. One thing is for sure: You cannot prevent them and most of them are not worth a trip to doctor. For instance, small cuts normally require direct, firm pressure using a clean piece of cloth, on the injured area. When the bleeding ceases, apply a pressure bandage. If the bleeding does not stop, call the doctor.
