Every mother wants her child to be healthy and pink. Children are always difficult to handle when it comes to feeding them. Food is comprised of the nutrients which are necessary for the child to grow normally and remain healthy. Kids require several nutrients like proteins, carbohydrates vitamins, fats and minerals. Even adults require the same nutrients; the difference is in the amount of each of these nutrients required for both. Different types of food stuffs contain different proportion of these nutrients. It’s every mother’s duty to provide their children with all these essential nutrients. Giving the child a perfect diet is important as not only is it necessary for their health currently but it will also determine their health in the years to come.
Children are not needed to be kept away from fats; they need not be given low fat food items. Fats are also needed for the sufficient growth of a child. Proteins are very essential for every child but one should make sure that the protein content in the food given to a child is moderate and not excessive because it can get heavy on their kidneys. Milk, eggs, soy products, beef, seafood, chicken, lamb, beans, unflavored yogurt, peas, oats, etc. are some of the foods that are rich in proteins and advisable to be included in a child’s diet. Unlike adults, who are always suggested to avoid carbohydrates, children’s diet should comprise of maximum proportion of carbohydrates.
Candies, sweets, sugar-filled juices, fruits, veggies, etc. are some of the sources providing large carbohydrate content. It is advisable that mothers should opt for healthier carbohydrate sources rather than junk food. Including fruits in a child’s diet is imperative. They should be always encouraged to consume more and more fruits. Fruits should always be chosen instead of juices but if the child behaves very stubbornly against fruits, then juice along with the pulp can be served to them. Whole grains should also form a part of their meal. Wheat, oats, corns, barley, brown rice, sprouted grains, etc. are some of the whole grains that can be included in children’s regular daily diet.
The best way to make kids eat all of these healthy foodstuffs is to set an example in front of them. If the mother eats the same food and appreciates the taste and its benefits, children will automatically start doing the same; they see and learn. There many recipes available on the internet, cook books and television cookery shows, which teach making tasty, fun and enjoyable food using healthy products that kids will love to eat without any reluctance. If a child is excessively overweight then a special diet should be followed which should include low fat products. One should bear in mind that treating an obese child is very different from treating an obese adult; food restrictions should not at all be stringent for a child. The mother should be careful and serve healthy, low fat but tasty food to the child.
