Benefits of a Baby Seat in the Car

No doubt, the safest place for a baby to be in is his mother`s arms and as kids, we have all commuted in that safe haven. But times have changed now and mothers usually drive the vehicle and babies have no other choice than to lie back in one of the passengers` seats. Many parents choose to use the standard seat belt for their babies as well. But don`t realize that the lap and shoulder strap for adults can`t really hold a baby and let him slip out conveniently which can be extremely dangerous.

A baby seat, on the other hand, restraints the baby from moving a lot and slipping out. The major benefit of having a child safety seat in the car is keeping the baby from being tossed around and in case of an accident, this seat will protect the baby from getting severely injured and also prevent him from being ejected through a broken window. Since the most important concern for all parents is the safety of their babies, they should use baby seats while driving so as to protect their precious ones.

Specifically deigned for babies up to three years, these seats come with adjustable parts that can be fitted to babies of all sizes and provide adequate protection even as babies grow. Along with straps, a standard baby seat comes with a reclining adjustment as well. It has an indicator level that informs of a proper reclining angle so that the child can fall asleep without having his head fall forward.

Several manufacturers have started making car seats with five-point harness system that is fully adjustable. Such kind of system is generally used in racing cars for protection. This system comes with two shoulder straps (one on each side), two straps for both thighs and one for crotch. The five-point harness system is very useful in protecting the baby against injuries as it reduces the impact of an accident by a large margin. The crotch strap is particularly important because it keeps the baby from sliding out of the harness and remains in place rather than being whipped around.

Because more parents are now using child safety seats in cars, the count of child death in road accidents has significantly gone down. If used in the right way, baby seats can help in reducing the percentage of child fatalities. But the downside here is that many parents don`t know how to properly install these seats in their cars. Henceforth, parents should take note of comprehending the installation process very well while purchasing one.
