Janeu/Janou is definitely one of the main items used in Pooja. Pooja is an integral part of the life of Indians. In India pooja is celebrated with great pomp and show. We ca see a number of poojas celebrated in India with gradeur and they attract a large number of touriste from all parts of the world. Pooja marks the celebration time in India. The pooja is performed with great honor and a homage to the supreme God. The ritual of pooja involves a number of steps and in each of the steps certain pooja items are required. The pooja items are an indispensable part of each pooja and each and every pooja item has a significant role. Pooja is performed in front of the idols on the pooja days. In the Hindu families, however pooja is performed regularly at home by the family members. Poojs is a sacred ritual and is done with proper devotion and dedication. Usually the pooja is performed after having bath and of course in washed clothes. In the temples the priests or the pundits worship the idols. On special occasions during the special pooja days pooja is performed in front of the idol of the Gods and Goddesses and this involves a rather elaborate ritual. Durga Puja is the grand festival of the Hindus and this pooja is celebrated by the people of all races. As religion plays a big role in the socio cultural scenario in India, the poojas play a big role and celebrated through out the year.
