This Too Shall Pass....

Expect to have hope rekindled. Expect your prayers to be answered in wondrous ways. The dry seasons in life do not last. The spring rains will come again.

1. It's perfectly alright to feel anger and frustration. But don't let these negative emotions take control of your life. Start channeling your energy towards more positive feelings and actions. Immerse yourself in a hobby - it doesn't have to be an expensive one. If you like writing, start writing about what you feel. Lie on a bed and surround yourself with peace and quiet; visualise yourself by a serene waterfall or a beach, laughing and enjoying life. Listen to music - it can be so therapeutic. Start doing aerobics/jogging - you'll feel brand new. But DO something to substitute those other thoughts.

Quote: People deal too much with the negative, with what is wrong. Why not try and see positive things, to just touch those things and make them bloom?

2. Remember, you have the power to change the outcomes in your life. It is within you and only you to dust your knees and get up. After that, you can either sit down and brood or get on with it. Friends and well-wishers may be there for you but ultimately, it's all in your hands.

Quote: Your diamonds are not in far distant mountains or in yonder seas; they are in your own backyard, if you but dig for them.

3. Above all, don't lose hope. Look for the rainbow and the silver lining, even the though the clouds look threateningly dark. When you give up hope, you stop fighting for the quality of life you want. At the end of the day, you'll tell yourself "I'm a Survivor" (listen to the song by Destiny's Child).

Quote: Practice hope. As hopefulness becomes a habit, you can achieve a permanently happy spirit.

4. It may be a good idea to join a prayer group, or a meditation group, for gaining inner peace. You may even find a support group with people experiencing the same kind of problems as you. You'll find yourself talking about your experiences and eventually, at the end of the day, you may realise that there are others who are in the same situation or, even worse off than you are. Such a realisation is important for moving on.

Quote: Growth of the soul is our goal, and there are many ways to encourage that growth, such as through love, nature, healing our wounds, forgiveness and service. Thesoul grows well when giving and receiving love. I nourish my soul daily by loving others and beingvulnerable to their love. Love is, after all, a verb, an action word, not a noun.

5. Devote some of your time to a cause. Do voluntary work, join an organisation which works for the betterment of mankind. You'll feel empowered in a very special way.

Quote: To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children, to earn the approbation of honest critics; to appreciate beauty; to give one's self, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived - that is to have succeeded.
