Who's that knocking on your door?

Opportunity knocks but once - you are warned. Learn from the knocks and shocks of life - you are advised.

Now, which knock is which?

Take the case of Mr.X - he believed that most people were good and trustworthy - until he was badly let down by close confidantes. Then he decided that he would never trust anyone again.

Along came a friend with a proposal that would benefit both of them . "No, thanks," said Mr.X - "I've learnt from the knocks and shocks I've suffered". The proposal passed on to another who made it big - now was that a potential "knock" or Opportunity knocking gently? Was he wrong? or was he right in not taking a risk? How does one know the difference?

If one doesn't go out for fear of rain, one can never catch fish , goes an old adage.

A boat that is moored may be safe and sound - but was that the reason the boat was built?

Knock and shocks of life happen all the time - they are great levellers and teachers- but they are also stepping stones and ladders - not great big fortress walls, never to be scaled.

And so - when you hear a knock - listen carefully - an inner voice may tell you where and how you will land - with a thud - or with a fancy parachute.
