The miracle of music

Tired and irritable? Find it difficult to sleep? Difficult to relax? Feeling stressed out? Feeling out of tune with yourself? Why don`t you bring rhythm and harmony back into your life? Listening to music is therapeutic. Our ancient forefathers knew all about the power of music to heal and soothe. That is why Indian classical music has a variety of Ragas to gently uplift and awaken the soul.

Many complicated problems of the mind have been solved with recitation of Ragas. Music in fact is magic and it would nor be wrong to observe that its notes and rhythms cast a hypnotising spell on the one who listens to it. And no wonder it has been acknowledged as finest of all the arts.

Throughout Indian history, there are fine examples of the power of music to transform not just the human soul but also inanimate objects.

Famous singer Baiju Bawara made stone melt like wax when he sang Raga Malkos. The great musician Tansen made the lamps burn when he sang Raga Deepak and made it rain when he sang Raga Megh Malhar.

The chanting of the powerful word "Om" has a lot of benefits both physical and mental. Such positively forceful sounds are found in maximum numbers in the Vedas (ancient Hindu texts) known as Ved mantras.

Ancients believed that regular recitation of the Ved mantras benefit not only the recitor but humanity as well.

Centuries ago, Indian seers and sages meticulously studied the intricacies of music and fixed the seven notes of music i.e. Sa- Ray-Ga- Ma- Pa- Dha- Ni which remain unaltered till date.

The magical effects of music were known to the seers and sages of India long back. The value of classical music is being recognised today even in the most developed countries of the world.Great feats are possible with the help of classical music. A person acquires renewed energy flowing through his body when he listens to music, his tiredness and exhaustion disappear immediately. The amazing variety of Ragas in Indian music is mind-boggling. A Raga for every season, a Raga for every mood. Ragas to heal, Ragas to boost your energy.

So, next time, you decide to fight the blues or stay energised, let your healing begin with music. Play on....
