How to 'ask' for a Goal

Once you know what you want from life, anything is possible. Maybe your list will exceed hundred goals. Not to worry! The more the merrier. Everything can and will be achieved, only the degree and time of success may vary. Some are easily achievable, others may take more time and greater effort and may even take years to achieve. Also, it becomes easier when you have a big list before you ' keeps you motivated. By achieving your own goals, you are not taking away from what belongs to someone else ' these are entirely your own.

  • Happiness, a secure home, a college of your choice, a career you've always wanted, hope about the future are some of the goals common to most people. Just keep adding to your list as you move successfully through life. The trick is also to add meaningful, realistic and achievable goals and these must be your motivating force every day. There is no point in wanting the moon!
  • Avoid vague generalizations when you are writing down your list. Be specific and see that your goals can be quantified. For example, if you want to learn driving, write down the name of the driving school and say that you want to start your lessons there this very month.
  • Make challenging decisions. Just get out of your comfort zone ' you need a lot of energy to achieve what you want.
  • Be flexible. If you shut your mind to opportunities that might come your way, you are the loser. Flexibility in approach will keep you from getting suffocated by your self-drawn boundaries.

For example....

Let us take a point of view in the area of job opportunities. From the time we are born, we have to ask for what we want from life. As babies, we cry to be fed, to be put to sleep or even for a diaper change. In the same way, we have to ask for the job we want by pursuing it with all our strength, leaving no holds barred. If you don't, the job will be someone else's!
Learn to work smart ' try to get more done in less time. Make any sacrifice necessary to achieve what you want from life. A little less here may only get you a little more in something else.

Know exactly what it is you want and go for it. Do not let things like ignorance, untold fear of asking and fear of an unwanted outcome, pride and low self esteem stand in you way.

So, have you got out that little notebook of yours? Just begin with the first hundred goals that you feel will make your life beautiful, and simply keep adding as you cross off the ones you achieve! Get back to us on how you feel as your achievements keep growing too!
