Listen to your intuition

Have you ever known who is calling even before the phone rings? Have you thought of someone and bumped into them unexpectedly? Are you able to tell that your friend is unwell even before she says a word? As a mother, do you automatically know if your child is in trouble? They call it women's intuition. Men have it too, but are taught to suppress it. Our modern world discounts intuition in favour of cold hard facts. Intuition is not some mysterious power belonging to a lucky few. It is a faculty that we all possess, whether we use it or not. Just as you have sight and hearing, you have intuition too, and it can get you out of trouble or even save your life if only you learn to listen to it.

Your hunch could be right

Why would you want intuition in this modern hard-nosed world? Because it makes life so much simpler. Intuition can guide you and warn you. Wouldn't life be a lot easier if you knew what was coming, if you knew whom to trust, if your gut feeling could warn you about danger and always take you to the right spot at the right time? Intuition comes in many ways. A mother saw a vivid dream in which her child was suddenly ill and she was running around trying to find a doctor. When she woke, the first thing she did was write the doctor's number by her bedside and buy an oxygen cylinder. It happened just as she had seen it except that she was prepared and the child's life was saved.

Another woman was visiting a relative when she heard a clear voice tell her to stop. Instead of going into the building she went back to her cat just as the first brigade drove up. The building was on fire. These are all common situations that happen to everyone. However, we often overrule these title insights, worried about what others might think. Or we dismiss them under that convenient label, 'coincidence'. Intuition is meant as an early warning system, telling you that problems may arise, that you have to take care, or showing you what to do.

Trust your instincts

Learn to listen to your intuition. It is meant to make life easier not harder. Besides saving you from danger, intuition ensures that you make the right choices in life and saves you a lot of heartache later on.

Value your gift

The results of a survey conducted to discover what set apart top CEO's and the best business managers from the middle level concluded that they were invariably the ones who 'just knew' what decision to take. Many went against conventional advice when their gut feeling told them the time was right. They could not explain it, they just followed their knowing and their decisions and timing were often perfect. The managers who were not so successful had the same intuitive feelings, but usually ignored or overruled them. That is what lost them the edge. Intuition is never wrong, but how do you know what is intuition? If your spouse is late and you keep worrying he has an accident, is that intuition? Of course not! That is worry. Intuition is usually sudden, comes from nowhere and is very clear. You are in no doubt at all. That is when you pay attention.

Intuition was meant to be great help in life. Don't waste so valuable a gift. With experience and a relaxed mind, you'll know just what to do, when you get a familiar hunch.
