Trace your family tree. Sit down with her and list down her ancestors. Supplement each name with a photo if you can. Ask her for a few facts about each person. Draw a Family Tree and put it up in her room. This is one project she'll love. You'll get to know about your roots too.
Go down memory lane with Gran. Remember your childhood and all the time you spent with her? Relive those moments with memories, photographs and words.
Have a weekly date. Have a chat, go to a movie, watch TV or even cook a meal together.
Is she missing an active lifestyle? Encourage her to have a hobby. There are plenty of things one can do even with a sedentary lifestyle. Organise it for her.
Make her feel useful. Let her teach you something. Be it pickles or rangoli, learn how to do it from her. You'll acquire a new skill too.
Join her for religious discourses. Go along with her. Share her interest.
Take her for a medical check up regularly.
Pay a bill that's pending. She may be silent about her need for cash. Do your bit without making a big deal of it.
Experience her youth through her eyes. Ask her how life was in those good old days. Absorb the wonder of the old world charm.
Let your kids bond with her. Let them tell her what's happening in their day to day lives.
