Today is a good day to talk about this. Children's Day - 14th November. Jawaharlal Nehru's birthday. A school holiday. Is that all? Let's remember him. His love for his country. Countrymen. And Children - the future of his country. It's a good day to talk about Children's day in other countries too. Did you know that Children's day is celebrated in many parts of the world on many different days for all kinds of reasons? International Children's Day of Broadcasting: Sunday 9 December Every December, thousands of children around the globe celebrate a special day: the International Children's Day of Broadcasting (ICDB). Children take to the air as reporters, presenters and producers of programmes that express their own dreams and concerns. For many, their involvement lasts well beyond the Day itself, with child-driven programmes and series extending throughout the year. Children's day in Japan - May 5th A national holiday in Japan since 1948, Children's Day is a festive day to celebrate your child's life. The holiday is believed to have begun in China, where they would hang medicinal herbs to ward off childhood diseases. In Japan, it is often celebrated by giving children kites and hanging streamers. The Children's Festival was originally called the "Boy's Festival" while the girls had the "Doll Festival". It is celebrated in other countries, often on different dates and with varying customs.
