Ms. Rhea Pillai Dutt, who is totally involved in this movement, in her interviews to leading publications clearly explains that the Art of Living movement is neither the prerogative of the elite nor is it a form of escapism. The myths and mists are cleared and what emerges is the fact that 'The Art of Living' is for all humanity.

"....for 20 odd years, the Art of Living reached out to millions worldwide.... most of who you do not read about.... villagers, the man on the street, housewives, businessmen, students, doctors, lawyers and so on. We reach out to the individual, irrespective of caste, creed, status, sex or race."

There is a percentage, whether large or small of our population that is 'high society'. Why should they not be included in the target group that needs guidance to live life in the best possible way? Hence, the reach is universal. Whether you classify them as 'high society ' or otherwise, people are people and the Art of Living relates to them.

Is it a form of escapism from the travails of life? What are you escaping from?

This art, claim those that know, simply makes you understand yourself better. When you realise that the ability to transform your life is in your hands, you are in complete control. This is a beautiful feeling. What is life? It is really up to you and how you want to work it.

This is about living life to its fullest. Certainly not escaping it.
