Recent research ascribes not only many healing properties to gemstones for physical, mental, or spiritual relief, but also considers them as an aid in one`s pursuits in life.

Given below are a few of the attributes of certain gemstones:

Diamond

The diamond is considered to be the greatest of stones, revered through the ages for its great beauty and strength, as well as for its powerful, positive spiritual and physical influences. It enhances the wearer`s charm and beauty. Physiologically, it strengthens the kidneys and reproductive organs, and gives protection against severe diseases. According to the ancient Roman belief, diamond, when worn on the left arm, next to the skin, gives the wearer a great deal of courage.

Ruby

One of the most precious gems, the ruby is next only to the diamond in value. In India and China it is worn to promote health and happiness. It is believed to have the ability to foretell danger by a loss of colour and brilliance. It is useful for strengthening the heart, improving digestion, promoting circulation, reviving fire and increasing energy. It also strengthens the will, promotes independence, gives insight and enhances power. No wonder it is believed to be the gem of kings.

Blue Sapphire

This is one of the earliest coloured gems known to man. It is highly venerated in the East and frequently consecrated to the various deities. The Buddhists believe that it produces in a person a desire for prayer. It clears infections and wards off all negative energies. It also prevents tumour and fat deposition. It strengthens the bones, increases longevity and helps calm the nerves and emotions. It promotes calm, peace and detachment.

Yellow Sapphire

This stone is considered to be the most effective in promoting overall health and well being. It gives energy and vitality, and regulates the hormonal system.

Emerald

The Emerald is held in high esteem by many cultures. It represents hope in immortality, courage and exalted faith, and protection from pestilence. In India, it is believed to be a good aid for memory and help in foretelling the future. It calms mental agitation, regulates the nervous system, helps stop nerve pain and improves speech and intelligence. It promotes healing, energises the breath, strengthens the lungs. It is a harmonising stone, good for cancer and other degenerative diseases.

Chrysoberyl Cats-Eye

This stone is considered to be good for promoting psychic and spiritual perceptions. It is a good stimulant of the nerves and is helpful for mental disorders. It is the gemstone of seers and astrologers. In India, it is believed to bring the wearer material wealth as well as prevent its loss.

Hessonite Garnet

These gems are considered to be the rarest of the planetary stones. In ancient India, the garnet was believed to be a guard against poison and disease, and was worn to promote health and cheerfulness. Golden hessonite is a good balancing stone. It calms the nerves, quiets the mind and relieves depression. It counters the negative influences of Maya (illusion).

Blood Coral

This organic stone is very beneficial to the physical body. It is regarded as a sovereign remedy against cholera and all epidemics, and invaluable in indicating to its wearer, by its change of colour, the presence of poison or the danger of illness.

Red coral strengthens the blood and reproductive system, improves energy and calms emotion. It builds flesh and muscles, gives courage and improves work capacity.

Pearl

The pearl is an organic stone believed to be good for promoting body fluids and blood, nourishing body tissues and the nerves. It strengthens the female reproductive system, improves fertility and calms the emotions.
