Spine

Spine is the series of vertebrae that are forming the axis of the skeleton and protecting the spinal cord. According to the human anatomy, Spine is called as the Vertebral column. Generally, spine is called as the backbone. In medical sciences, the vertebral column is considered as a column of 34 vertebrae, several intervertebral discs, the sacrum and the coccyx which is placed in the dorsal aspect of the torso and it is separated by spinal discs. Spine or vertebral column protects spinal cord as spinal cord is an extension of the central nervous system from the brain and it is a thin as well as tubular bunch of nerves. Spine or vertebral column is a bony structure that consists of a spinal canal that includes spinal cord. Spinal cord is very much responsible for the transmission of neural inputs between the brain and the periphery. In meditation, spine is a very essential part of human body. Meditation is a special state of body in which concentrated attention on a specific physical posture. From the ancient period, people practiced meditation along with yoga. Meditation is considered as a basic component of eastern religion in which meditation is been practiced dates back from around 5,000 years. The term `meditation` originated from the Latin word `meditatio` which originally depicts all types of physical as well as cerebral exercises done by human being. Later, the meditation word developed into a more articular meaning which is `contemplation`.

Several traditions of meditation teach about the physical postures including the position of spine. In every types of meditational postures, the basic rule is, the spine should be always kept in a straight position. Most of the time this rule of meditation is defined as a typical way of promoting the circulation of entire body which are called as `spiritual energy`, the `life force`, the `vital breath`, and the Kundalini. The persons who practice meditation are called meditator. In several meditational traditions, the meditator sit on a flat chair or on a flat-footed sit or on a flat stool. Meditation is an old practice in several cultures like Buddhism, Christianity and many other cultures. Some special Indian customs state being barefoot while practicing meditation. It is suggests to experience total comfort and spiritual peace of mind.

Other traditions of meditation which are included kundalini yoga are also very ancient form of meditation that takes a minimum formal approaching or physical postures. In Kundalini yoga, meditator also sit calm as well as still with a quiet traditional posture. In this form, mediators give stress on the possibility of kriyas which is a spontaneous posture of yoga. Most of the time mediators prefer to sit in meditation to keep physique as well as mind stress free. IN every types of meditation, spine is an essential part that totally need to be more firm and straight.
