Eyes

The exercise of the eyes is very important pertaining to the yoga. The practitioners of yoga give special emphasis on the eye exercises. The eye exercises are very important because of two major advantages such as, 1) When people grow they usually face lot of problems with their eyes and the muscles of the eyes also loss their toning capacity. The eye muscles tend to become stiff as they lose their elastic properties, which reduce the eye`s ability to focus different distances by the means of the lens. The eyesight becomes weaker day by day. Here comes the eye exercise. The eye exercises keep the muscles toned up and help retain their ability to focus different distances and see better. People facing problems with their eyes, should immediately start with this exercise and they would find out the difference in a few months time. The eye muscle tension happens due to the excessive stress on the eyes such as working for long hours in front of a computer, watching T.V. in a dark room, working in dim light, etc, and this increases the nerve impulses traveling to the brain. With the increase in the nerve activity the brain is overloaded by the nerve impulses, which causes the overall feeling of tension. The eye exercise would definitely reduce such kind of tension even after excessive stress and would reduce the feeling of tension.

The exercise of the eyes should be done while lying on the back. After finishing all the yogas, the one should lie down and start the eye exercises, in this the person can take a rest and at the same gone on with eye exercise. This would save much of the time taken to do both the activities separately. While the exercise is going on one should not move the head and the eyes should be kept wide open.

If one does this exercise while sitting he or she keep certain important things in mind such as eyes should be kept open, the spine should be straight, the body should be relaxed, hands should rest on the knees, the head should be straight and the most important thing is that the body should be motionless.

After the exercise gets over the person should remain on the floor and slowly bends his or her knees while keeping the feet slightly apart on the floor. The next step is to briskly rub the hands together in order to charge them with static electricity and the palms should be kept on the closed eyes in shape of cups. The knees should be able to support the elbows and the principally the head should be very straight and motionless. This is very important. The breathing should continue normally. The benefits of these eye exercises are immense. The eye exercises help in improving eyesight and reduce eye muscle tension due to over stressing by the means of improved blood supply to the nerves.
