Drug Abuse

Drug abuse or chemical abuse is the regular intake of certain substances that finally leads to addiction and presents some major health risks. It is characterized by an unusual pattern of using a substance and reporting distress or other significant problems. The excessive intake of certain substances may affect your personal and professional life leaving you feel isolated, ashamed or helpless. There are various reasons of using drugs, some use them as part of enjoyment as their friends use them while others take them to reduce stress, anxiety, depression, etc. Using drugs does not show immediate reactions, and usually the reactions are different for every individual. It basically depends on the quantity and consequences of  a drug that leads to its abuse.      

Drug addiction is a complex disorder identified by regular drug use. Every drug has some side effects but regular intake of any of them can brought significant changes in brain functioning. Excessive use of certain drugs affects our brain badly and leads to addiction. Teens often try recreational drugs to sense the pleasure that these drugs provide. These drugs generally increase the dopamine level that leads to feeling of pleasure. The various drugs that are commonly abused are marijuana, depressants, stimulants, amphetamines, anabolic steroids, inhalants such as vapors, glues, cocaine, hallucinogens, heroin, alcohol, etc. These drugs reduces the stress or other off feelings from your mind temporarily that leads to addiction.

Signs of Drug Abuse or Drug Addiction:

Every drug present different physical reaction but the symptoms of drug addiction are common and if you`re undergoing any of the below listed symptoms, find ways to overcome them or discuss it with someone close to you.
  • Neglecting responsibilities such as avoiding your work and family just to satisfy your habit of drug use.
  • Using drugs under dangerous situations such as while driving or taking risks to use them such as using infected needles, etc.
  • Use of drugs is leading to legal problems such as misconduct or cases of thefts to satisfy your body demand.
  • You encounter sudden problems in your relationships such as fighting frequently with your partner, avoiding friends, etc.
  • Losing control over the drug use.
  • Cut-off from the society and losing interest in various activities that you loved to do previously.
  • Continuous use of drugs even after knowing the fact that they are making you an addict.
  • Drug abuse is surely is a critical state that one should deal cleverly. Quitting these addictive drugs nees patience, control and a strong will power.
