5 light late-night meals that can be home-made

You might be conscious about what you eat all day long, but when late night hunger pangs kick in some snacks which come in handy can throw all your hard work off the window! There are also times when you get back home exhausted after a party and have this irresistible urge to eat something; so you decide to gorge in the packet of chips you got for your nephew! Even the left over pizza or pint of ice cream can be a bad option while you take them late night, since the body is more likely to store the calories in them in the form of fat. While you decide to eat something late in the night, you have to make sure that it is the right snack, so that your stomach has little to digest. Here are 5 easy home-made recipes for the hunger that strikes at mid-night:

The crunchy snack contains varieties of flavours and can be quite filling. Plus it is low on sodium and calories. Recipe: put the pot over medium heat and put in some oil and corn. Put a lid until the corns start popping. Sprinkle some sugar and salt. Toss. Take Asian rice crackers, almonds, cranberries, wasabi peas and the pop corns. Add 1tbsp olive oil and toss. Add sesame seeds and toss again.

2.Chicken-lettuce-tomato sandwich: A low calorie and high protein snack can be prepared within minutes as a saviour to your late night cravings. All you have to do is, top a slice of bread with hardboiled egg, tomato and spinach. Add rotisserie chicken and spread 2tbsp of unsalted peanut butter if you wish. Put another slice of bread and the sandwich is ready.

3.Instant ramen with spicy sauce: This dish can be quick, easy and super yummy. Just boil some ramen and add chilly or curry powder instead the usual toppings. Wait until the broth turns into thick sauce and serve hot.

4.Cheese quesadilla: Although this dish might sound a little ‘cheesy, but you can use healthy cheese which contains just 3 to 5 grams fats per ounce for the making. All you have to do to make finger licking good quesadilla is, sprinkle some low fat cheese (you can try Jarlesberg light) in high fibre tortillas and grill them from both sides until they are crisp. You can also use cast iron skillet for the grilling.

5.Curried eggs: These are delicious and easy to make snacks that you would absolutely love. Hard boil eggs and remove the shell. Cut the eggs into two halves and removes the yolk. Now take the yolk in another bowl and add curry powder and some chilly to it. Alternatively, you can also add oregano and chilli flakes to the yolk and put this mixture back in the egg.
