5 Ways to handle Alcoholic Flatmates

If someone is going out for studies or any business tour then the first thing which one would wish is not to get an alcoholic flatmate. In case, if the situation demands an individual to stay with one then how will the situation be dealt with? The feeling which one may get while living with the alcoholic roommate is as if one is living with some stranger. There are various features of the alcoholic flatmate. Some of them are the joblessness, violence and disruptive behaviour. There are various types of feelings which may arise within the person while living with the alcoholic roommate.

But, in these circumstances, instead of cursing oneself, the best way is to take care for the flatmate. Might be it is a bit of caring which can help them to get rid of this addiction. If one has found them guilty in any task then punishment should be given otherwise they will continue on the same path. If one thinks that the things are going to change on their own then it is not. He or she only has to take some positive steps which can help them to lead a better life. It might be a bad luck that one has got the alcoholic roommate.

The person has two options whether he/she can shift to another flat or he/she can help him to make a better citizen. Do not blame the person for different problems. This might make them more upset and perhaps will drink more alcohol. But, in the whole process one has to take care that they do not lag behind their goals.

One should ask the alcohol addicted flatmate to go for the evening walk and try to spend some good time with them which can make them happy and forget his sorrows. In most of the cases, it has been found that the people get addicted to alcohol when they are alone or when the things do not go well for them. By doing so, one can make them realize that there is someone who cares for them and should not feel alone.

The person needs to do something which can make them feel that their flatmate is the right person with whom he/she can share their problems with ease. In the beginning, they might show some aggressive responses but as the time passes, the things will go good among the flatmates. One can also look for the other flatmate, but this may have negative effect on the mind of alcoholic roommate. So, it will be better if one avoids this situation. Try to involve in a friendly relationship with them, instead of being rude to them, just because they are addicted to alcohol. One should make sure that they spend enough time with that roommate so that they can feel better even when the other flatmate is not there with them. But, if one does not want to strike in this case again, then make sure that they clarify all the points for their roommate before they take a room on rent.
