Studies have shown that having pets is important for mental as well as emotional well-being of humans. A pet can relieve its owner of stress and provide comfort after a long tiresome day at work. Apart from that, pets are the best companion to talk to as they don`t reveal secrets, neither do they talk back – a plus for every woman. In short, pets can simply make life more cheerful by filling up the empty space in one`s life. Some pets that help alleviating loneliness and are adored by women are:

Dogs
The man`s best friend is even a better friend to a woman for many reasons, but mostly because dogs have a sense of identifying if the person is in distress. Not only dogs sense sadness, but also try to console by licking her face or sticking their nose into her hand. A dog is faithful, loving and can be trained in any way one wants to plus it is protective and will scare away anyone who poses a threat to its owner.

The great thing about dogs is that they don`t require too much care. On a daily basis, one has to only feed the dog, pat its head, take it out for a walk, play a game of ball fetching and the best friend is more than happy. Other than that, it will require a bath once in a while and a periodic visits to the vet. If a dog is left alone at home all through the day, its owner can ring her home number and call out its name on an answering machine – hearing just a few words will definitely cheer it up.

Cats
Since they are predators, felines of any kind were not considered fit for domestication up until 6000 BC. The Ancient Egyptians felt the need of domesticating cats, the smaller felines, in order to save their food supply storage from rodents. Humans visioned great advantages of getting rid of the plenteous rodent population and cats were granted sovereignty to hunt down mice. This period marks the beginning of a relationship between cats and humans.

Later on, cats were considered to be celestial beings and worshiped in Egypt. History shows evidence of having a ban on cat export and penalty for killing one was death in that era. Even today, in most regions, cat killing is condemned. Petting a cat doesn`t require too much care – it sleeps about 18 hours a day, goes for a walk by itself, most of the time finds its own food hiding behind the bushes and doesn`t bother anyone much. However, it does like to be scratched on the neck once in a while.

Fish
Another great pet that`s adored by women is fish. There are more than 25,000 species of fish and not all of them can be kept inside an aquarium in one`s house. Studies have revealed that fish collection is enjoyed by women of all ages and is world`s second largest hobby.  Most women are drawn towards keeping fish because of the varied assortment of sizes and colors. With so many kinds of fish in an aquarium, one can definitely brighten up the layout of any room.

Apart from being a great room décor, fish can be conveniently and inexpensively petted. Fish food is cheap plus the owner doesn`t have to take them to vet every now and then. While most pets are not allowed in many rented flats or apartments, fish are welcome anywhere as they are quite. Additionally, they don`t even require too much space.
