Sunita: Hi

Rama: What happened to you?

Sunita: Why?

Rama: You look so pale and weak

Sunita: Oh! Juggling between home and office; I hardly get any time for myself.

Rama: I can understand. But if you won't take care of your diet and nutrition you won't be able to manage your hectic schedule.

Sunita: Gimme essential nutrition tips.

Rama: Balanced diet is essential for good health and fitness. A healthy diet includes a variety of foods and a right mix of protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals and fiber.

Green vegetables like collard greens, broccoli, asparagus, green beans, etc. are full of vitamins A and C, fiber, phytonutrients and high in folate.

Water regulate body temperature, flushes out toxins, transports nutrients to cells, and rids the body of waste materials. Drink 10-12 glasses of water daily.

Never skip breakfast. Breakfast gives fuel to start a new day and you don't indulge in overeating which helps maintain your weight. When we skip a meal, body metabolism slows down and we tend to overeat at the next meal.

Iron-deficiency anemia is very common in young women. Due to monthly menstrual cycles women needs iron. Include iron-rich foods such as apple, meat, shellfish, beans and enriched cereals in your diet.

Calcium strengthens bones and teeth. It also maintains normal heart beat and regulates blood pressure. Milk is a rich source of calcium.

Fiber has a few calories and is not broken down by the body for energy. Dietary fiber is found in plant foods such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and whole grains. Fiber is important of diet. It improves digestive system, lowers cholesterol level and prevents colon cancer.
