Trousseau Designer

A designer with a difference - that's what you'd love to be. Not for you is the modern masculine cut in women's wear. You believe the beautiful and the traditional - well blended with glamour. Have you ever thought of specialising in trousseau designing?

More and more women want professional help with their trousseau. It's too important to be negligent or casual about. "Well", says the workingwoman, "why not to get the best I can afford?" It's no wonder then that designing trousseau is a career in itself nowadays.

What does trousseau designing involve? Here are a few tips from famous designers.

  • Trousseau comprises of more than just the wedding wear. You need to have some formals, semi formals and casuals as well.

  • You'll have to keep the bride's lifestyle in mind when you design the non-wedding clothes. Is she a workingwoman? What kind of profession is she in? What's her social life like? What kind of attire is she comfortable with?

  • Always encourage the brides to start on their trousseau well before the wedding. Usually most brides wait till the last moment - since they want to lose weight and come down to an ideal size for their weddings. But when you're designing the trousseau - it's better to keep in mind that they rarely maintain that weight loss. The average weight that they usually maintain is a more realistic size to cater to.

  • The bride's outfit will look better when co-ordinated with the groom's. So you have to work with the groom's designer as well. The bridal couple should look well together and the overall picture should be well balanced.

  • Most wedding dresses are traditional - and they change from community to community. But a designer can give the traditional a unique touch if she goes about it the right way.

  • Trousseau is all about ultra feminity. Don't try radical masculine lines here. So trousseau designers need to specialise in various classic, feminine, floating, soft and mellow styles.

  • Wedding clothes need to be co-ordinated with the jewellery the bride is going to wear. You can't have the jewellery clashing with styles and colour combinations of the wedding clothes.

  • The accessories can make or break the pretty picture. When designing the outfit - it's important to keep in mind the shoes, the handbag and the other accessories the bride might choose to wear. So learn to work, mix and match the ensemble to provide a complete picture.
