Caravan hounds are a rare breed of sight hounds. They were originally found in Southern Maharashtra and Northern Karnataka. These hounds were so named as they used to travel along with caravans from place to place. Long and lighter boned, these dogs are usually cream coloured, fawn, black or black interspersed with white. Caravan hounds have excellent stamina and are immune to many diseases. They make very affectionate pets. Mudhol hound
These dogs get their name from the place in which they were found- in the northern districts of Karnataka and Southern Maharashtra. Mudhol hounds are sturdy dogs that require plenty of exercise and space. They make excellent watchdogs. They come in various colours and grow to a height of 65 to 70 cms. Pashmi hound
Pashmi hounds are highly agile and make excellent hunting dogs. They are sturdy animals that can sustain themselves anywhere. They are elegant and good-looking, tall with a short coat and a furry tail. They grow to a height of 23 to 28 inches and are usually black, fawn, tan, white or cream coloured. They are found in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
