Having a pet inculcates care and concern for animals in children. You can help your kids take care of dogs with these suggestions.
As soon as you bring a pup home, let it get used to a lot of touching- pats, cuddles and hugs.
Avoid taking the attitude that a dog has to go if it bites.
Teach your kids not to surprise the dog. Let them practise calling its name before touching it.
Teach them to be gentle and kind towards the pup and not tease or harm it in anyway.
If your pet dog does not like children yelling and screaming, tell them not to agitate it. This could trigger an aggressive attitude in the dog.
Avoid letting the dog sleep on your kid's bed.
Do not let small children take dogs out for walks. It could be hazardous for both.
Insist that the kids keep their faces away from their pet dog.
