Khadi is a fabric whish was long associated with the common man but its versatility is catching the attention of designers within and outside our country.

So how does Khadi fit into home decor?

Khadi created a revoulution in weaving, and once people understood its range, the vibrant colours, its design elements and geometric pattersn, they started using it in various crafts, shoes, home accessories and of course clothing.

Silk khadi which is available in a variety of hues and shades adds elegance and a touch of royalty to any space. The dye gives the cloth a whole new dimension and looks great on cushions, tablecloths, runners, curtains, or sofa covers. Whether your living room is set up in a traditional manner or has a contemporary look, cushions covered in silken khadi works well. Match a turquoise with baby pink or royal blue or red with beige to enhance its richness.
Although khadi might not fall well due to its stiffness it looks great when used for curtains. If you prefer materials that are light and airy, replace the paper or fabric of your blinds with khadi. The fine weave allows light to pass through while keeping the heat out. It is cool in hot Indian summers and keeps one warm too in winters.
Beautifully textured, sensuous and skin friendly, it also makes for great sofa covers. If your upholstery is light colored, you can use khadi as slipcovers that can be pulled out for an easy wash. Khadi comes in many prints like block print, warli figures, floral designs and can be dyed into any colour of your choice. Choose one that matches your furniture.

Khadi can also be used for framing pictures. You can also use it for your rug too.

There are several outlets which sell khadi fabrics, visit any of them, use your imagination and creativity, do any amount of permutations and combinations by using it in various ways for different things and be proud of your interiors and the appreciative glances it gets.
