Children's room

A long time ago I heard a story about how a group of expert veterinarians got together to formulate an ideal dog food. The food was fashioned and everybody agreed as to how good it was except for the dogs for whom it was meant. This was evident because, they refused to get it. I guess if they could voice their opinion they would probably say "no one asked us what we would like to have." So, when it came to decorating my kid's room, I decided to make him a part of the project.

  1. Since he was too little to decide on the colour scheme, we decided to keep it as it was. A pale cream. To add his personal touch, we choose corner of a protruding wall and made him put his hand prints along it (Vertically). Then we used a metre scale to graduate the length of the wall and this became his "growth Tracker".

  2. On the wall behind his bed we stuck some eva foam cartoon figures using reverse side of the tape so as to not to damage the wall.) At the centre we hung a wall clock shaped like an octopus.

  3. On the wall facing his bed we put a soft board, and put up a host of family pictures on it. When he is able to read we can pin up messages for him or use it display his artwork.

  4. For the bedspread, we plan to get our boy to splash paint on a regular bedspread using fabric colours. (he is too little to paint using any other technique)

  5. For the curtains we have decided to use a contrasting colour and the same technique. (splash painting)

  6. We have got an ordinary cane shelf which is smaller (in keeping with his height) than the regular size available in the market made so that he put away his own stuff. It has been painted by us using black acrylic paint.

  7. On the floor next to the window we have spread a rather large bit of linoleum. As it easy to clean. Our little fellow plays over there we also do our craft work here.

  8. Keeping the safety factor in mind we have lined the wall along the window (where the linoleum in spread with colourful cushions)

  9. We already had built in cupboards we stuck some masks on them. We made a new lampshade and wastepaper bin using the same splash painting on old fabric. In the case of the waste paper bin the cloth was wrapped around a tin.
