HIV/AIDS in South Africa has caused a severe matter of concern. In this country HIV infection has taken the shape of a vicious epidemic. Due to the rapid increase of HIV prevalence the country has a fall by 35 places in the Human development index, which is an index that gives ranking of the countries on the basis of how developed they are. The schools also have fewer teachers due to the AIDS epidemic. This has also affected the education system of South Africa.
Some precautionary and prevention measures are being taken to combat HIV/AIDS in South Africa. Though the government was initially busy with the political turmoils it has taken due care of the problem at a later stage.
