AIDS is caused by HIV viruses that lessen the white blood cells counts or lymphocytes and hence damages the immune system of an individual. There may be no immediate signs and symptoms of HIV/AIDS, the symptoms and signs may start appearing after 2-3 months.
Children who are infected with HIV/AIDS since birth develops opportunistic diseases and infections like meningitis and pneumonia, or severe bouts of other common infections.
