People should be enlightened about HIV-AIDS connection. Many people are ignorant about the vital connection between HIV and AIDS. Often many people opine erroneously that HIV and AIDS are synonymous. AIDS or Acquired immune deficiency syndrome or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome is a conglomeration of symptoms and infections while these symptoms and infections are caused by HIV or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in human beings. If you want to delve in to the history of HIV/AIDS you will find it is filled with triumphs and failures The detailed history HIV/AIDS comes before us which traces our past association with this killer disease.


The fist instances of HIV/AIDS is usually traced to the 1980`s but some recently revealed unknown facts about history of HIV/AIDS has brought forward some shocking truths. In the year n 1959, a man residing in Africa died of a mysterious illness. It was only recently after examining some blood samples taken from that man it was diagnosed that he actually died from complications related to an HIV infection. However the HIV/AIDS disease came first to the notice of medical professionals in the year 1981 in the New York when there an outbreak of a rare form of cancer among gay men in New York and California. It came to be known as the "gay cancer" which later came to be identified as HIV/AIDS and became the biggest health care concern in modern history.

The elaborate history of HIV/AIDS is a history of a uphill struggle against a killer disease. Inspite of the huge development of human medical science there is currently no known cure of HIV/AIDS. However there are treatments for AIDS and HIV which often help to decelerate the virus` progression. But the history of HIV/AIDS also encompasses the untiring effort of scientist and medical professional to discover a cure for AIDS. In 1983 Dr Richard Gallo, an American scientist isolates a retrovirus called HTLV-III which he claims is responsible for AIDS. Robert Gallo`s lab patents an HIV test kit that later is approved by the FDA in the year. The authentic history of HIV/AIDS would surely encompasses the year in 1987 which drug Retrovir (AZT, Zidovudine) is first used.
