Kaletra is a type of Anti HIV medication,the category of this medicine is called protease inhibitors. Protease inhibitors is a category of HIV medicines that is commonly known as Pls. Kaletra is a medicine that prevents the further production of human immunodeficiency virus or HIV from the T-cell that is already affected with HIV. Thus as a HIV medication Kaletra preventing the cells from producing new viruses of the same kind decreases the amount of virus in the body. It can also increase the number of T cells.The medicine is manufactured by Abbott Laboratories. Inn the year 2000, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Kaletra for the treatment of HIV infection for both adults as well as the children. In t year 2005 a new tablet formulation of the drug has also been approved for the adults who were found HIV positive. The tablets are sold under the name Aluvia in some parts of the world.

Kaletra is actually a combination of two drugs that are combined in a single capsule. The drugs include Lopinavir as well as low doses of Ritonavir which is commonly known as Norvir. Norvir is another drug from the Abbott Laboratories. As Rtonavir increases the maount of Lopinavir in the blood the combination is proven to be good against HIV.

Kaletra tablets contain 200mg Lopinavir and 50mg of Ritonavir. The tablets can be taken both once or twice a day. It can also be taken with or without food. But the capsules of Kaletra should be taken with a light snack or meal. Refrigeration of this drug is not very necessary.
Kaletra is a drug that has been approved for the use of children who are aged between six month to twelve years . The doses of the drug of the body of the children depends on the body weight of the child. There is a liquid formation of Kaletra for the babies and children which makes it easy to consume.
