It has been seen that depression is one of the main causes of High Blood Pressure in many people and most of the drugs that are used to combat this disease only worsens the whole situation. Besides, hypertension may also lead to the risk of organ failure and damage. Depression or Psychological Problems as it is scientifically known is always best to get under control first with antidepressant drugs, and leave the question of treating high blood pressure until later. People with high blood pressure and a history of recurrent Psychological Problems should be taken carefully, and the health care provider should make all the necessary treatment available to bring the patient as back to normal as possible.
Some experts say that people with high blood pressure and with signs of Psychological Problems should avoid treatment with the blood pressure lowering drugs that act mainly on the brain stem. But if from the Signs and Symptoms, the doctor thinks that the person’s depression turns out to be so severe that anti depressant drugs fails to help, then he may refer the patient to a psychiatrist, to consider electro convulsive treatment (ECT). It has been seen the blood pressure rises steeply during ECT and there after steps can be taken to bring it under control, as in most cases it works well. What ever is the cause, the family members or the doctors should never ignore Psychological Problems in a person.
People who drink heavily are likely to damage their liver, eventually leading to liver failure and if the person has high blood pressure, then lower doses of blood pressure lowering drugs are to be used on him. All types of diuretics should be used cautiously, particularly on patients with Psychological Problems. Support and love by the people near and dear ones to the patient should be provided constantly and he should know that he is wanted.
